NPW

Description

The NPW (neuropeptide W) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

NPW is a gene that in humans encodes Neuropeptide W protein.

NPW is involved in regulating neuroendocrine signals reaching the anterior pituitary gland. It promotes water consumption and food intake. Additionally, it may participate in the hypothalamus's response to stress. Notably, the NPW23 variant exhibits a stronger activation of GPR7 and GPR8 receptors compared to the NPW30 variant.

NPW is also known as L8, L8C, PPL8, PPNPW.
