NOXA1

Description

The NOXA1 (NADPH oxidase activator 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

NADPH oxidase activator 1 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the NOXA1 gene.

NOXA1 acts as an activator of NOX1, a NADPH oxidase that produces superoxide. NOXA1 plays a role in the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) which are involved in various biological processes, including host defense, hormone synthesis, oxygen sensing, and signal transduction. NOXA1 may also activate CYBB/gp91phox and NOX3.

NOXA1 is also known as NY-CO-31, SDCCAG31, p51NOX.
