NME7

Description

The NME7 (NME/NM23 family member 7) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

NME7 exhibits intrinsic kinase activity (PubMed:24807905) and 3'-5' exonuclease activity with a preference for single-stranded DNA (PubMed:16313181). Notably, it does not appear to possess nucleoside diphosphate kinase activity (PubMed:16313181, PubMed:24807905). NME7 acts as a microtubule inner protein (MIP) within the dynein-decorated doublet microtubules (DMTs) of cilia axonemes, essential for motile cilia beating (PubMed:36191189). As a functional component of the gamma-tubulin ring complex, it regulates microtubule-nucleating activity in centrosomes through its kinase activity (PubMed:24807905).

NME7 is also known as CFAP67, MN23H7, NDK 7, NDK7, nm23-H7.
