NKTR

Description

The NKTR (natural killer cell triggering receptor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

The NKTR gene encodes a membrane-anchored protein with a hydrophobic amino terminal domain and a cyclophilin-like PPIase domain. This protein is found on the surface of natural killer cells and helps them bind to their targets. Its expression is controlled by IL2 activation of the cells.

NKTR is a peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase) that catalyzes the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides, potentially aiding in protein folding. It is also part of a proposed tumor-recognition complex that plays a role in the function of NK cells.

NKTR is also known as CypNK, p104.
