NETO2

Description

The NETO2 (neuropilin and tolloid like 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

NETO2 is an accessory subunit of neuronal kainate-sensitive glutamate receptors GRIK2 and GRIK3. It enhances the activity of kainate receptors by slowing down the decay of their channel activity, increasing their open probability, and modulating their sensitivity to agonists. This results in a prolonged effect of kainate receptors on synaptic transmission by slowing the decay of excitatory postsynaptic currents (EPSCs).

NETO2 is also known as BTCL2, NEOT2.
