Description
The NDOR1 (NADPH dependent diflavin oxidoreductase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.
NADPH-dependent diflavin oxidoreductase 1 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the NDOR1 gene.
NDOR1 is a NADPH-dependent reductase that plays a crucial role in the cytosolic iron-sulfur (Fe-S) protein assembly (CIA) machinery. It transfers electrons from NADPH to the [2Fe-2S] cluster of CIAPIN1, another key component of the CIA machinery. This reduced cluster then provides electrons for the assembly of cytosolic iron-sulfur cluster proteins. NDOR1 can also reduce the [2Fe-2S] cluster of CISD1 and activate this protein, which is involved in Fe/S cluster repair. In vitro, NDOR1 can fully activate methionine synthase/MTR in the presence of soluble cytochrome b5/CYB5A.
