NDNF

Description

The NDNF (neuron derived neurotrophic factor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

NDNF is a secreted protein involved in various cellular processes, including acting as a chemorepellent for gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons migrating to the hypothalamus. It promotes neuron migration, growth, survival, and neurite outgrowth, playing a role in the development of the olfactory system. NDNF also regulates growth factor activity and downstream signaling, extracellular matrix assembly, and cell adhesion. It promotes endothelial cell survival, vessel formation, and revascularization through NOS3-dependent mechanisms.

NDNF is also known as C4orf31, HH25, NORD.
