Description

The NCALD (neurocalcin delta) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

NCALD may play a role in controlling how much rhodopsin, a light-sensitive protein in the eye, gets modified by adding phosphate groups. This process is influenced by the presence of calcium. NCALD can bind to three calcium ions.
