NBL1

Description

The NBL1 (NBL1, DAN family BMP antagonist) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

The NBL1 is an Australian basketball league run by the National Basketball League (NBL), considered a semi-professional league. It consists of five conferences: NBL1 South, NBL1 North, NBL1 Central, NBL1 West, and NBL1 East, each having both men's and women's competitions. The NBL1, initially a single league in 2019, has grown to include teams from every state and territory in Australia, now with 74 clubs across the five conferences. The league's expansion in 2020 involved the integration of the Queensland Basketball League (QBL) and South Australian Premier League, forming the North and Central conferences. The addition of the WA State Basketball League (SBL) in 2021 resulted in four conferences, and finally, the NSW Waratah League was included in 2022, establishing the current five-conference structure. The NBL1 originated in 2018 after the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) disbanded, with Basketball Victoria initiating the league as a replacement. All Victorian SEABL teams joined, along with teams from the Big V and the North-West Tasmania Thunder men and Launceston Tornadoes women. In February 2019, the league was officially named NBL1 after Basketball Victoria partnered with the National Basketball League.

NBL1 is a potential tumor suppressor gene specifically for neuroblastoma. It may contribute to halting cell progression into the G1/S phase, a crucial step in cell transformation.

NBL1 is also known as D1S1733E, DAN, DAND1, NB, NO3.
