NAV1

Description

The NAV1 (neuron navigator 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

Neuron navigator 1 is a protein encoded by the NAV1 gene in humans. It belongs to the neuron navigator family and is primarily expressed in the nervous system. The protein contains coiled-coil domains and a conserved AAA domain, typical of ATPases involved in various cellular activities. This gene shares similarity with unc-53, a Caenorhabditis elegans gene implicated in axon guidance. The precise function of this gene remains unknown.

May be involved in neuronal migration.

NAV1 is also known as POMFIL3, STEERIN1, UNC53H1.
