NAP1L4

Description

The NAP1L4 (nucleosome assembly protein 1 like 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

NAP1L4 is a human protein encoded by the NAP1L4 gene. It belongs to the nucleosome assembly protein (NAP) family and can bind to both core and linker histones. NAP1L4 shuttles between the cytoplasm and nucleus, indicating a function as a histone chaperone. This gene is located near the imprinted gene domain of 11p15.5, a crucial tumor-suppressor gene region. Alterations in this region have been linked to several cancers, including Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, Wilms tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, and lung, ovarian, and breast cancer.

NAP1L4 is also known as NAP1L4b, NAP2, NAP2L, hNAP2.
