Description
The NAP1L1 (nucleosome assembly protein 1 like 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.
Nucleosome assembly protein 1-like 1 is a protein encoded by the NAP1L1 gene. It belongs to the nucleosome assembly protein (NAP) family and participates in DNA replication. NAP1L1 may play a role in chromatin formation and cell proliferation regulation. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants.
Histone chaperone that plays a role in the nuclear import of H2A-H2B and nucleosome assembly. Participates in DNA repair mechanisms: enhances ERCC6-mediated chromatin remodeling for transcription-coupled nucleotide excision DNA repair, stimulates homologous recombination by RAD51 and RAD54 for mitotic DNA double strand break repair. Plays a key role in the regulation of embryonic neurogenesis, promoting neural progenitor proliferation and inhibiting neuronal differentiation. Regulates neurogenesis via modulation of RASSF10 by promoting SETD1A-mediated H3K4 methylation at the RASSF10 promoter.
