NABP1

Description

The NABP1 (nucleic acid binding protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

NABP1 (Nucleic acid binding protein 1) is a protein encoded by the NABP1 gene in humans. It is a single-stranded DNA (ssDNA)-binding protein, essential for various DNA metabolic processes such as replication, recombination, and DNA damage repair.

NABP1 is a subunit of the SOSS complex, a multiprotein complex involved in DNA repair and cell cycle checkpoint control. It acts downstream of the MRN complex and plays a crucial role in sensing single-stranded DNA (ssDNA), particularly polypyrimidines. The SOSS complex associates with DNA lesions, influencing various aspects of the cellular DNA damage response, including cell cycle checkpoint activation, recombinational repair, and maintaining genomic stability. NABP1 is essential for efficient homologous recombination-dependent repair of double-strand breaks (DSBs) and ATM-dependent signaling pathways.

NABP1 is also known as NABP1-OT1, OBFC2A, SOSS-B2, SSB2.
