MYRIP

Description

The MYRIP (myosin VIIA and Rab interacting protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

MYRIP, also known as Exophilin-8, is a Rab effector protein involved in melanosome transport. It acts as a bridge between melanosome-bound RAB27A and the motor proteins MYO5A and MYO7A, potentially connecting RAB27A-containing vesicles to actin filaments. Additionally, MYRIP functions as a protein kinase A-anchoring protein (AKAP), potentially acting as a scaffolding protein that links PKA to components of the exocytosis machinery, thereby facilitating exocytosis, including insulin release.

MYRIP is also known as SLAC2-C, SLAC2C.
