MYO1F

Description

The MYO1F (myosin IF) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

MYO1F is a human gene encoding the protein Myosin-If, mainly expressed in the immune system. It might play a role in cell adhesion and movement, and is a candidate gene for nonsyndromic deafness.

Myosins are motor proteins that use ATP to move along actin filaments. Unconventional myosins, like Myosin-If, are involved in intracellular movement. Their unique tails bind to cellular membranes, allowing them to move these membranes relative to the actin cytoskeleton.

MYO1F is also known as -.
