MYO1D

Description

The MYO1D (myosin ID) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

MYO1D is an unconventional myosin that acts as an actin-based motor protein with ATPase activity. It plays a crucial role in endosomal protein trafficking, particularly in the transfer of cargo proteins from early to recycling endosomes. MYO1D is essential for maintaining normal planar cell polarity in ciliated tracheal cells, ensuring proper rotational polarity of cilia, and facilitating coordinated, unidirectional ciliary movement in the trachea. It is also required for the correct, polarized organization of cilia in brain ependymal epithelial cells.

MYO1D is also known as PPP1R108, myr4.
