Description

The MYO19 (myosin XIX) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

MYO19 is an actin-based motor protein that utilizes ATP hydrolysis to move along actin filaments. It localizes to the outer membrane of mitochondria and is essential for the inheritance of mitochondria during cell division. MYO19 may also play a role in mitochondrial transport and positioning.

MYO19 is also known as MYOHD1.
