MYLK4

Description

The MYLK4 (myosin light chain kinase family member 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

MYLK4, also known as Myosin light chain kinase 4, is an enzyme encoded by the MYLK2 gene in humans. It belongs to the myosin light-chain kinase family and plays a role in phosphorylating the regulatory light chain of myosin II, a process crucial for muscle contraction. This phosphorylation involves adding a phosphate group to a protein, a reaction catalyzed by MYLK4. While the specific functions of MYLK4 are not fully understood, recent research suggests it may be involved in cancer development and potentially contribute to other cellular processes like transferase activity, ATP binding, and nucleotide binding. MYLK4 is also referred to as CaMLCK like, EG238564, MYLK4, Mylk4, Myosin light chain kinase family, member 4, SgK085, SGK085, Sgk085, Sugen kinase 85, and Uncharacterized serine/threonine-protein kinase SgK085. It's important to note that MYLK4 is just one member of a larger family of myosin light-chain kinase enzymes.

MYLK4 is also known as SgK085.
