MYH7
Description
The MYH7 gene provides instructions for creating a protein called alpha-heavy chain 7, a major component of the thick filaments in skeletal and cardiac muscle. These filaments are responsible for muscle contraction, allowing us to move, breathe, and pump blood. Mutations in the MYH7 gene can disrupt this process, leading to a range of muscle-related disorders.
Associated Diseases
- Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)
- Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM)
- Congenital Myopathy
- Skeletal Muscle Myopathy
- Sudden Cardiac Death
