MYH13

Description

The MYH13 (myosin heavy chain 13) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

MYH13, the gene responsible for Myosin-13, encodes a protein primarily expressed in the extrinsic eye muscles, which are specialized for eye movement.

MYH13 encodes a fast-twitching myosin that enables high-speed, low-force contractions in specialized striated muscles.

MYH13 is also known as MyHC-IIL, MyHC-eo.
