MVP
Description
The MVP (major vault protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.
MVP most commonly refers to Major Vault Protein.
MVP is essential for the formation of vaults, large, multi-subunit structures that potentially act as scaffolding for proteins involved in signal transduction and nucleo-cytoplasmic transport. MVP has been shown to downregulate the signaling pathways mediated by interferon-gamma (IFNG), Src, and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs).
MVP is also known as LRP, VAULT1.
