MUC7

Description

The MUC7 (mucin 7, secreted) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

Mucin-7 is a protein encoded by the MUC7 gene in humans. The gene is present in most placental mammals but not marsupials. Humans have two versions of the gene, one with five tandem repeats and the other with six. The number of repeats varies in other primates: gorillas (4-5), chimpanzees (5), orangutans (6-7), macaques (8-10), baboons (10-11), and green monkeys (11-12).

MUC7 is also known as MG2.
