MTPN

Description

The MTPN (myotrophin) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

Myotrophin is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MTPN gene.

Myotrophin promotes dimerization of NF-kappa-B subunits and regulates NF-kappa-B transcription factor activity. It plays a role in regulating the growth of actin filaments and inhibits the activity of the F-actin-capping protein complex formed by CAPZA1 and CAPZB. Myotrophin promotes growth of cardiomyocytes, but not cardiomyocyte proliferation, and promotes cardiac muscle hypertrophy.

MTPN is also known as GCDP, V-1.
