MTBP

Description

The MTBP (MDM2 binding protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

MTBP inhibits cell movement in laboratory settings and hinders the spread of cancer cells. It may also be involved in maintaining the balance of the p53 protein in normal cells. MTBP prevents MDM2 from breaking itself down, which makes MDM2 more stable. This allows MDM2 to break down p53 more efficiently, leading to its removal from the cell.

MTBP is also known as MDM2BP.
