MT1X
Description
The MT1X (metallothionein 1X) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.
Metallothionein 1X, also known as MT1X, is a protein encoded by the MT1X gene in humans.
Metallothioneins, like MT1X, are known for their high cysteine content, which allows them to bind various heavy metals. Their production is controlled by both heavy metals and glucocorticoids. MT1X might play a role in anti-apoptotic signaling through its interaction with FAM168A.
MT1X is also known as MT-1l, MT1.
