MT1G

Description

The MT1G (metallothionein 1G) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

Metallothionein-1G is a protein in humans encoded by the MT1G gene.

Metallothionein-1G binds to various heavy metals, like zinc and cadmium, via its cysteine residues. The gene encoding this protein is regulated by both heavy metals and glucocorticoids.

MT1G is also known as MT1, MT1K.
