MT1B

Description

The MT1B (metallothionein 1B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

MT1B is a gene that encodes the Metallothionein-1B protein in humans.

Metallothioneins, like MT1B, contain abundant cysteine residues which bind to various heavy metals. Their expression is controlled by both heavy metals and glucocorticoid hormones.

MT1B is also known as MT-1B, MT-IB, MT1, MT1Q, MTP.
