MSL3

Description

The MSL3 (MSL complex subunit 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

MSL3 plays a crucial role in chromatin remodeling and transcriptional regulation. It is a component of the MSL complex, which is responsible for the majority of histone H4 acetylation at 'Lys-16', a modification implicated in higher-order chromatin structure. MSL3 specifically recognizes histone H4 monomethylated at 'Lys-20' (H4K20Me1) in a DNA-dependent manner and is proposed to be involved in chromosomal targeting of the MSL complex.

MSL3 is also known as MRSXBA, MRXS36, MRXSBA, MSL3L1.
