MSGN1
Description
The MSGN1 (mesogenin 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.
This gene plays a crucial role in defining the paraxial mesoderm, a region responsible for the development of muscles, bones, and cartilage. Importantly, it doesn't influence the development of the dorsal mesoderm, which forms structures like the skin and nervous system. This gene likely regulates the activity of T-box transcription factors, proteins that are essential for the formation and specialization of mesoderm cells.
MSGN1 is also known as MSOG, pMsgn1.
