The MRS2 (magnesium transporter MRS2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

MRS2 is a magnesium transporter that facilitates the movement of magnesium ions into the mitochondrial matrix. This function is crucial for the proper expression of mitochondrial respiratory complex I subunits. (PMID: 11401429, PMID: 18384665)
