MRPS35

Description

The MRPS35 (mitochondrial ribosomal protein S35) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

The MRPS35 gene encodes a protein called 28S ribosomal protein S35, mitochondrial, which is involved in protein synthesis within the mitochondria. Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) are made up of two subunits, a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit. The MRPS35 protein is part of the 28S subunit and contributes to its function. There are also pseudogenes for MRPS35 on chromosomes 3p, 5q, and 10q.

MRPS35 protein is a component of the mitochondrial small ribosomal subunit (mt-SSU), which is essential for protein synthesis within the mitochondria. This subunit is crucial for translating mitochondrial DNA into proteins required for various cellular functions.

MRPS35 is also known as HDCMD11P, MDS023, MRP-S28, MRPS28, mS35.
