MRPS30

Description

The MRPS30 (mitochondrial ribosomal protein S30) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

The MRPS30 gene encodes a protein called 28S ribosomal protein S30, mitochondrial. This protein is part of the ribosomes found within mitochondria, the cell's powerhouses. Mitochondrial ribosomes are responsible for making proteins that are essential for mitochondrial function. They are composed of two subunits: a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit. MRPS30 is part of the large 39S subunit. It shares similarities with the chicken protein p52, which is involved in programmed cell death. There are different versions of the MRPS30 gene, but the complete details of these versions are not yet fully understood.

MRPS30 is also known as MRP-S30, PAP, PDCD9, S30mt, mL65.
