MRPS27
Description
The MRPS27 (mitochondrial ribosomal protein S27) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.
MRPS27 is a key component of the mitochondrial small ribosomal subunit (mt-SSU), essential for mitochondrial protein synthesis. It directly interacts with mitochondrial rRNA (12S mt-rRNA) and tRNA(Glu), facilitating the translation of mitochondrial mRNA, particularly for components of the electron transport chain. Furthermore, MRPS27 plays a role in regulating cell proliferation and tumor growth.
MRPS27 is also known as MRP-S27, S27mt, mS27.
