MRPL32

Description

The MRPL32 (mitochondrial ribosomal protein L32) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

The MRPL32 gene encodes for 39S ribosomal protein L32, mitochondrial, a protein that is part of the machinery for protein synthesis within mitochondria. Mitochondria are organelles that are responsible for generating energy in cells. The MRPL32 protein is a component of the large subunit of the mitochondrial ribosome (mitoribosome). The mitoribosome is made up of two subunits: a small subunit (28S) and a large subunit (39S). The MRPL32 protein is part of the 39S subunit. The MRPL32 gene is found on chromosome X. A pseudogene of the MRPL32 gene is found on chromosome Xp.

MRPL32 is also known as HSPC283, L32mt, MRP-L32, bL32m, bMRP-59b.
