MPP1
Description
The MPP1 (MAGUK p55 scaffold protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.
MPP1 (55 kDa erythrocyte membrane protein) is a protein encoded by the MPP1 gene in humans. It is the prototype of a family of membrane-associated proteins known as MAGUKs (membrane-associated guanylate kinase homologs). MAGUKs interact with the cytoskeleton and regulate cell proliferation, signaling pathways, and intracellular junctions. MPP1 contains an SH3 (src homology 3) motif, found in many other cytoskeleton-associated proteins involved in signal transduction.
MPP1 is an essential regulator of neutrophil polarity. It controls neutrophil polarization by regulating AKT1 phosphorylation through a mechanism independent of PIK3CG activity.
MPP1 is also known as AAG12, DXS552E, EMP55, MRG1, PEMP.
