Montelukast

Description

Montelukast is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs called leukotriene receptor antagonists. It works by blocking the action of leukotrienes, which are chemicals that trigger inflammation in the airways. Montelukast is used to prevent and treat asthma, and it can also be used to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever). It is available as a tablet, chewable tablet, and oral granules. Montelukast is generally safe and well-tolerated, but it can cause side effects such as headache, nausea, and diarrhea. It is important to talk to your doctor before taking montelukast, especially if you have any underlying medical conditions or are taking other medications.
