MNT

Description

The MNT (MAX network transcriptional repressor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

MNT stands for Max-binding protein MNT, Class D basic helix-loop-helix protein 3, Myc antagonist MNT, and Protein ROX.

MNT protein binds to DNA as a heterodimer with MAX and suppresses gene expression. It preferentially binds to the E box sequence 5'-CACGCG-3' compared to the canonical sequence 5'-CACGTG-3'.

MNT is also known as MAD6, MXD6, ROX, bHLHd3, lncRNA-HAL.
