MMP23A

Description

The MMP23A (matrix metallopeptidase 23A (pseudogene)) is a pseudo gene located on chromosome 1.

MMP23A (matrix metalloproteinase 23A) is a gene that encodes a protein involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix, a complex network of molecules that surrounds cells. This protein may play a role in the regulation of cell migration and adhesion. It has been shown to interact with collagen type IV and laminin.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family. MMPs are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as development and tissue remodeling, as well as in pathological processes, such as cancer and arthritis. This protein may play a role in the regulation of cell migration and adhesion. It has been shown to interact with collagen type IV and laminin.

MMP23A is also known as MIFR, MIFR-1, MMP21.
