MLLT1
Description
MLLT1, also known as AF6, is a gene that plays a crucial role in normal hematopoiesis, the process of blood cell development. It encodes a protein that acts as a transcriptional co-activator, helping to regulate the expression of other genes involved in blood cell formation. While MLLT1 is essential for normal blood development, rearrangements or mutations in this gene are frequently observed in various types of leukemia, particularly acute myeloid leukemia (AML). These alterations can lead to uncontrolled cell growth and the development of cancer.

MLLT1 gene rearrangements are often associated with specific subtypes of leukemia, such as AML with a t(9;11)(p22;q23) translocation.
