MKNK1

Description

The MKNK1 (MAPK interacting serine/threonine kinase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

MAP kinase-interacting serine/threonine-protein kinase 1 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the MKNK1 gene. MKNK1 has been shown to interact with MAPK1 and Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4 gamma.

MKNK1 may be involved in cellular responses to environmental stress and cytokines. It appears to regulate translation by phosphorylating EIF4E, which enhances the protein's affinity for the 7-methylguanosine cap on mRNA.

MKNK1 is also known as MNK1.
