MIER1

Description

The MIER1 (MIER1 transcriptional regulator) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

Mesoderm induction early response protein 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MIER1 gene. MIER1 has been shown to interact with HDAC1.

MIER1 acts as a transcriptional repressor, controlling the expression of multiple genes, including those targeted by the transcription factor SP1. It likely achieves this repression by recruiting HDAC1, a histone deacetylase involved in silencing chromatin.

MIER1 is also known as ER1, MI-ER1.
