MEX3D

Description

The MEX3D (mex-3 RNA binding family member D) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

MEX3D, the human homolog of the C. elegans protein Mex-3, is encoded by the MEX3D gene. It functions as an RNA-binding protein that interacts with AU-rich elements in the Bcl-2 gene. This interaction negatively regulates Bcl-2 expression at the post-transcriptional level. MEX3 proteins, including MEX3D, have a characteristic structure consisting of two N-terminal KH domains (KH homology motifs) and a RING domain at the C-terminus.

MEX3D is also known as MEX-3D, MEX3, OK/SW-cl.4, RKHD1, RNF193, TINO.
