METTL6

Description

The METTL6 (methyltransferase 6, tRNA N3-cytidine) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

METTL6 is an S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferase that catalyzes the N(3)-methylcytidine modification of residue 32 within the anticodon loop of tRNA(Ser), specifically including tRNA(Ser)(UGA) and tRNA(Ser)(GCU). This methylation process is contingent upon the interaction between METTL6 and SARS1/SerRS.

METTL6 is also known as hMETTL6.
