METTL15

Description

The METTL15 (methyltransferase 15, mitochondrial 12S rRNA N4-cytidine) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

METTL15 is an N4-methylcytidine (m4C) methyltransferase that catalyzes the methylation of position C839 in mitochondrial 12S rRNA. This methylation contributes to the stabilization of 12S rRNA folding and facilitates the assembly of mitochondrial small ribosomal subunits.

METTL15 is also known as METT5D1.
