ME1
Description
The ME1 (malic enzyme 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.
ME1 or ME-1 can refer to the human gene ME1, which encodes for the NADP-dependent malic enzyme.
This enzyme catalyzes the oxidative decarboxylation of (S)-malate in the presence of NADP(+) and divalent metal ions, and decarboxylation of oxaloacetate.
ME1 is also known as HUMNDME, MES.
