MCRS1

Description

The MCRS1 (microspherule protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

Microspherule protein 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MCRS1 gene. MCRS1 has been shown to interact with PHC2, Death associated protein 6, NOL1, PINX1 and Telomerase reverse transcriptase.

MCRS1 modulates the transcription repressor activity of DAXX by recruiting it to the nucleolus. As part of the NSL complex, it may be involved in acetylation of nucleosomal histone H4 on several lysine residues. It is a putative regulatory component of the chromatin remodeling INO80 complex, which is involved in transcriptional regulation, DNA replication and probably DNA repair. MCRS1 may also be an inhibitor of TERT telomerase activity. It binds to G-quadruplex structures in mRNA and to RNA homomer poly(G) and poly(U).

MCRS1 is also known as ICP22BP, INO80Q, MCRS2, MSP58, P78.
