MAP1LC3C

Description

The MAP1LC3C (microtubule associated protein 1 light chain 3 gamma) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

MAP1LC3C, also known as LC3C, is a ubiquitin-like modifier that plays a key role in antibacterial autophagy (xenophagy) by selectively binding to CALCOCO2. It recruits all ATG8 family members to invading bacteria like Salmonella typhimurium. Additionally, MAP1LC3C may participate in aggrephagy, the process of degrading aggregated and ubiquitinated proteins through macroautophagy.

MAP1LC3C is also known as ATG8J, LC3C.
