MAGI1, or Membrane-associated guanylate kinase, WW and PDZ domain-containing protein 1, is an enzyme that plays a role in assembling protein complexes at cell-cell junctions. This protein belongs to the MAGUK family, which is known for its involvement in forming multiprotein complexes on the inner surface of the plasma membrane. MAGI1 may act as a scaffolding protein, connecting different proteins and facilitating their interactions. Different isoforms of MAGI1 exist due to alternative splicing, indicating potential variations in its functions.
MAGI1, also known as MAGUK, plays a role in assembling protein complexes at cell-cell junctions. It may also regulate acid-induced ASIC3 currents by controlling its presence on the cell surface.
