MAGED4B

Description

The MAGED4B (MAGE family member D4B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

MAGED4B (Melanoma-associated antigen D4) is a protein encoded by the MAGED4B gene in humans. It shares sequence similarity and chromosome location with other members of the MAGED gene family. MAGED4B is primarily expressed in the brain and ovary in normal tissues, with two transcript variants specifically expressed in glioma cells among cancer cells. This gene and other MAGED genes are clustered on chromosome Xp11. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified for this gene, although the full length nature of some variants remains undefined.

MAGED4B may enhance ubiquitin ligase activity of RING-type zinc finger-containing E3 ubiquitin-protein ligases. It is proposed to act by recruiting and/or stabilizing the Ubl-conjugating enzyme (E2) at the E3:substrate complex.
