MAGEA9

Description

The MAGEA9 (MAGE family member A9) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

Melanoma-associated antigen 9 is a protein encoded by the MAGEA9 gene in humans. This gene belongs to the MAGEA gene family, whose members share 50 to 80% sequence similarity. The MAGEA genes are clustered at chromosomal location Xq28. The promoters and first exons of these genes exhibit significant variability, suggesting that the gene family allows for the same function to be expressed under different transcriptional controls. The MAGEA genes have been linked to some hereditary disorders, such as dyskeratosis congenita.

MAGEA9 is also known as CT1.9, MAGE9.
